Happy New Year!

First of all, I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday.   2011 is off on the right foot!

For anyone in the Seattle area, I’m participating in a benefit show for KEXP’s ‘Audioasis’ radio show on Saturday 2/05.  All info on the event and the benefit can be found here.

Also, feel free to check out my live on-air performance on ‘Audioasis’ recorded on 11/06/10.
Available for streaming at KEXP’s site.   Thanks to Sharlese and Hannah for making this happen.

Reviews for Finds You In Love are still coming in and I couldn’t be happier:

“Contains the same caliber of songwriting as any platinum selling artist.  Wood’s vocals shine along with the instrumentation which combine to make an engaging album”
– Manual Dexterity Music Zine

“It’s really one of those albums that needs to be listened to as a whole.”
– ‘Earlier Program’; CBC Radio One (Canadian Radio)

Love, light & hope in 2011 – JW

KEXP, Seattle house show and Beach Boys Tribute!

I’ve confirmed an on-air performance on KEXP’s ‘Audioasis’ Radio Program for Saturday 11/06.  The next night will be an intimate Living Room Recital show with Portland’s Alameda joining me on a few songs.   Admission is limited to 35 attendees, so, get your tickets in advance.

Saturday November 13 I have the pleasure of participating in a live tribute to The Beach Boys ‘Pet Sounds’ album.  The album will be performed in it’s entirety by the Seattle Rock Orchestra accompanied by guest vocalists, myself included.   Links/info on this can be found under the SHOWS tab.

Thank you to everyone for making this year wonderful.

News, news & more news!

As some of you know, my latest album Finds You In Love was released direct from my label New Granada (Tampa, FL) back in March. Thanks to a new distribution deal for the label, I’m excited to announce that FYIL will be seeing a national street date of 09/14/2010!

The physical CD will be in stores combined with the online digital re-release to coincide with this date. You can order direct now from the label, or, even better, call your local independent record store and request that they carry it.

I have some shows scheduled in the coming months to promote the new record. Keep your eyes peeled for more…

Here’s some early press on the new record:

Babysue are too kind!

Online blog/publication Babysue really made my day with this review of my new album:

In Jen Wood’s own words this album “…is about finding the light inside the darkest places of my mind and my past.” If there are any dark places scattered around here…we can’t find them. All we hear are smooth, intelligent, resilient, smart, upbeat modern pop songs from a young woman who obviously stands out from the pack. Wood has been making music for quite some time now. She was originally one half of he 1990s duo Tattle Tale and has previously put out several releases under her own name. Jen spent several years writing and recording Finds You In Love. In many cases when artists spend great lengths of time recording an album the music actually suffers from overindulgence. This is most certainly not the case here. Jen starts with what would already be super strong songs…and them embellishes them with specific intricate arrangements that add (rather than detract) from the vocal melodies. Her vocals are subdued, focused, and genuine. After spinning this one a dozen times…we can’t find anything about this album that we don’t like. Beautiful inviting cuts include “Pills,” “You Are The Promise,” “Flight,” and “Never Doubt.” An obvious and easy TOP PICK. Highly recommended…

Thank you, Babysue!

P.S – Working on some things (ie. Sonic Boom/Seattle in-store, Seattle/Portland shows, etc.).  Stay tuned!
